The youth mentorship program is run by Young Guns Fly Club to develop youth in the sport of fly fishing.    

The Goals of the youth mentorship program in 2011 are the following: 

1.  mentor youth in fly casting, fly fishing and fly tying.

Youth in the Mentorship Program will:

1. Meet weekly in a classroom to discuss fishing techniques, practice casting, tie flies and generally anything that has to do with catching fish on the fly;
2. Participate in scheduled fishing events, bimonthly, at local fisheries in Greater Vancouver and surrounding area;
3. Be gifted the required equipment necessary to fly fish; and
4. Be exposed to different sectors of the fishing industry (ie. shadow professional guides, lodge and store owners or managers, scientists, commercial fishermen, etc.).
